In “Strategies for Becoming an Independent Artist: Running a Theater Company,” we will explore the means to create a working, self-sustaining theater company. Within that, we will provide a proposal for an entirely student-run main stage production performed in Carol Belk Theater. In it, we will include a business model, outline for procedure leading up to the performance, defined roles for all individuals involved and a theoretical budget. We will be researching theater companies in the Asheville area to better inform our decisions regarding business models and budgets. We will also be working with the UNCA Drama Department to implement these plans.
